Escapees RV Club: History and Advantages of a Great Club

Started in July 4, 1978, by Joe and Kay Peterson, the Escapees RV Club is one of the most important organizations for RVers. The idea was put forth in Kay?s column in Woodall?s Trailer Travel Magazine when she asked the readers about how many people would be interested in joining a club for RVers. There was an important response for this idea, so the plan of Joe and Kay began to take off and the club is now a place for people to enjoy full-time RVing and help with the usual problems of this lifestyle.

The first people who joined the club were asked to propose a name for it. Harry and Peg Lewis were the ones who submitted Escapees, the name that was chosen because of its relevant significance. For many RVers this name means escaping to a more adventurous lifestyle, away from the conventional one. This is possibly the major characteristic of the RV life: the excitement adventure of the road. Today, there are over 34,000 member-families that have become Escapees.

This successful club continues to grow thanks to its 150 employees, its dedicated volunteers and its members that help with the numerous activities and programs the club organizes. The Escapees headquarters, Rainbow?s End, in Livingston, Texas, was the first park created for the association. Today, Escapees RV Club has 6 more rainbow parks, 11 SKP Co-Op parks and three Escapees Rainbow Parks Unlimited parks.

If you are thinking to join a club and you are an RV enthusiast, Escapees RV Club can be a good choice. With a history of several years of achievements and successes, this club will give you the opportunity to meet new people, to learn more about RVs and to have a great time to enjoy the famous ?Escapades?; you will be able to travel to events and festivals with the family members. Do not miss this great experience!
