Learning About Different Types of RVs

When you are looking to buy or rent an RV you will discover that different kinds of vehicles are normally labeled as RVs.

An RV tipically contains beds, a table and food preparation and storage areas; however, larger models add full bathrooms, refrigerators, living areas, master bedrooms and other amenities.

RVs can cost from $100,000 to $1 million. However, many people trade used RVs and negotiate their cost helping you afford one in a comfortable price.

The RV is a structure designed to give temporary living lodging for travel, vacation and recreational use. These particular vehicles can be driven, towed or transported. RVs are divided into three essential groups: Motorized RVs, Towable RVs and Park Models.

The first group consists of an RV built on a self propelled motor vehicle chassis where in one unit transportation and living quarters are combined. This group is subdivided in three classes which are Class A Motorhome, Class B Camper Van and Class C Mini-Motorhome. Class A is the largest of the motorized RVs, is one of the most luxurious units. The class B is a Camper Van that consists of a conventional van to which a raised roof is added. The class C is an automotive manufactured chassis that has an attached van cab section.

The second group of RVs is designed to be towed by a motorized vehicle. In this group we have the so-called conventional Travel Trailer, the Fifth-Wheel Trailer that is a two-level unit planned to be affixed and towed by a pickup truck equipped with a special hitch in the truck bed, the Folding Camping Trailer that is a unit with sides that collapse for towing and storage and the Truck Camper that is a petite recreational unit affixed to the chassis of a pickup truck.

The third group are the Park Models, they are available in two different kinds which are the Park Model Trailer 102 and the Park Model Recreational Unit. The first one is especially built to meet RV specifications and the second one is designed for seasonal use. The Park Model Recreational Unit is extremely big and needs permission to move on the road.
