The Recreational Vehicle Safety Education Foundation (RVSEF) is a foundation that gives assistance to individuals, private organizations, educational institutions, and others whose donations serve to help understand and improve the Safe use of Recreation Vehicles. Some important contributors that help the foundation are Michelin, Good Year, Bridgestone/Firestone, Family Motor Coach Association, RV America, RV Alliance America, Jayco, Ford, ALCOA and Winnebago among many others.
One of the main objectives of the foundation is to bring together information, publish reports, supply resource material and conduct public Safety campaigns. All this oriented to educate the consumer about how to operate securely their RVs and their components. Nevertheless, one of the requirements of the foundation is not to make a product judgment or organization evaluation.
For example, one of its educational programs helps RV buyers and owners on the safety aspects of loading RVs. It helps them identify potential dangers and costs of operating in excess of established weight and load restrictions. The foundation elaborates several documents with numbers about the weighing of RVs and analysis of actual loading data. It also conducts educational seminars to assist RV industry manufacturers and dealers.
RVSEF is directed by a board of directors that includes representatives from the various segments of the RV industry including manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, consumers, educators and insurers. The structure is comprised of affiliates who represent each of the community parts without any one having a majority position. Thanks to this policy, the foundation works very efficiently and represents positively the interest of all its associates.
Today, RVSEF has established the Virgil D. Miller Memorial Award in the memory of Virgil D. Miller, who served on the Board of the RVSEF and was its first President and Chairman. For this reason, the foundation decided to present this award to the member of the RV industry who exemplifies the ethical standards that were the basis of Virgil?s leadership.
