Take a trip to The Alamo City!
One of the best kept secrets in the state of Texas is the fabulous city of San Antonio. Home to the famous “Alamo”, this Texas city is an amazing blend of attractions…some of which are old and historic…and some of which are modern and new.
Among the historic sites that one must see in San Antonio, is the aforementioned Alamo. More than 2 million visitors a year come to this site, to see the mission where a small group of brave Texans battled the Mexican army of General Santa Anna, and held them off for thirteen days. Among the immortalized Texas heroes who fought there and uttered the famous words “Remember the Alamo!” were: Davey Crockett, James Bowie and William Travis.
Another of the historic sites in San Antonio is La Villita (Spanish for “little village”). It’s one square block of downtown San Antonio, and it’s full of shops, restaurants, and arts and crafts.
Want to see a fabulous show featuring some talented marine life? Then a trip to Sea World of Texas is a must! Besides the shows, the park is also home to two first class roller coasters, The Steel Eel and The Great White.
For more amusement park rides, check out Six Flags Fiesta. This amusement park is one of the most popular tourist attractions in San Antonio.
Splashtown—San Antonio is a great water amusement park, which features more than 50 rides and attractions. Among those rides and attractions are: the seven-story tall Lone Star Luge; the largest wave pool in South Texas, and A relaxing river ride (Siesta del Rio).
San Antonio’s Alamo Dome is a 60,000+ seat facility that has hosted football games (regular season and bowl games), NBA games, NCAA Final Fours, Dallas Cowboys training camps, concerts and conventions.
The new SBC Center is an 18,000-seat facility which is the new home of NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. Many concerts are also held there, as well.
Finally, a trip to San Antonio isn’t complete without a visit to the world famous River Walk. There are hotels, shops, restaurants, bars all along the route. Heck, you can even take a boat ride.
