Havin’ a Blast on the Atlantic Coast!
Want to go where there’s fun, sun, great country and western music shows, unbelievable golf, fabulous fishing, and tourist attractions galore? Then you want to head on over to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!
Myrtle Beach has become sort of an East Coast oasis for great country music shows. Very similar to what happened in Branson, Missouri, Myrtle Beach has become a spot where c & w entertainers come to perform, and in some cases come to open their own theaters (like country music legends Alabama and The Gatlin Brothers did). Other musical theaters in Myrtle Beach include: The Carolina Opry (the area’s first theater, founded by Calvin Gilmore); The Palace Theatre; Dixie Stampede; The Savoy Theatre; Crook and Chase Theatre; High Steppin’ Country; and The Forum Theatre.
Want to play golf at some of the area’s great golf courses? There are many great ones to choose from, including: Barefoot Resort; Black Bear Golf Club; Possum Trot Golf Club; Robber’s Roost Golf Club; Surf Golf and Beach Club; Bay Tree Golf Plantation; Beachwood Golf Club; Colonial Charters Golf Club; Black Bear Golf Club, and Eagles Nest Golf Club.
Some of the Myrtle Beach tourist attractions include: Bellefield Nature Center (aquariums and terrariums); Barefoot Landing (100 stores and eating establishments, this is the most visited tourist attraction in the state of South Carolina); Brookgreen Gardens; Myrtle Beach Pavilion; Ripley’s Aquarium; Huntington Beach State Park (great for seashell gathering); and Broadway At The Beach (great shopping complex).
Among the many RV parks in the Myrtle Beach area are these: Apache Family Campground; Daddy Joe’s Camping and Fishing; Myrtle Beach Travel Park; Myrtle Beach KOA Campground; Pirate Land Family Campground; Lakewood Camping Resort; and Ocean Lakes Family Campground.
To get to Myrtle Beach, the major routes are South Carolina Highways 9,22, and 501 from the west and Highway 17 from either the North or South. Highways 9 and 501 are accessible from Interstate 95.
Myrtle Beach is now a boomtown. With the country music theaters, what was once a mostly spring-summer tourist town has now become a great year-round destination.
I can hear the bands tuning up and the tide rollin’ in…………take me to Myrtle Beach today!
