Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA

Tucked among 10 acres of tall southern loblolly pines in the heart of the South Carolina foothills, the Anderson / Lake Hartwell KOA offers a host of nearby treats. From this gateway campground (about two hours from both Charlotte and Atlanta and 10 minutes from Clemson), explore Anderson Jockey Lot, known as the South’s largest flea market, and historic Pendleton. Enjoy waterfalls along scenic drives, then end the day with a campfire under a rose-red sunset. Set out on the nearby Foothills Trail, a wooded path that winds 100 miles along the Blue Ridge Mountains. Aim for that hole-in-one at several challenging courses or try your luck at the campground’s own 18-hole mini golf course. KOA’s open-air pavilion is a great place to gather for the area’s annual hot-air balloon festival. We now have FREE Wi-fi wireless internet service throughout the campground as well as a dial-up modem connection available in our laundry room

Paris Mountain State Park

One of the oldest protected areas in the state is gaining popularity as a beautiful retreat in a metropolitan area. Formerly a watershed for the city of Greenville, the 1540-acre Paris Mountain features large stands of old growth hardwood forests that canopy over hiking and biking trails, a family campground, picnic areas and Camp Buckhorn, a group-camp complex. The hardwoods are even more spectacular in the fall, when they produce the golds, reds and oranges of autumn. Developed in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park continues to display CCC craftsmanship in several buildings and structures.

Table Rock State Park

Table Rock Mountain provides a towering backdrop for an upcountry retreat at the edge of the Blue Ridge Escarpment. This 3,083-acre state park encompasses challenging hiking trails, two park lakes, a campground, rustic mountain cabins, meeting facilities and many other quality outdoor activities. The view at Table Rock is as breathtaking today as it was to the Cherokee Indians who once inhabited this area. Built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park still features many of the quality architecture and stonework of the CCC. The park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a South Carolina Heritage Trust Site.
