State Parks and Campgrounds---State Tourist Travel Information

The first thing you will enjoy upon arriving to the proud land of Lincoln,  is to drive by the famous Route 66. That’s something you can’t miss! Also, you will be able to go by the five National Scenic Byways that not only put you on the path to fun, but moreover, offer plenty of natural beauty and fascinating history.

Traveling to Illinois in this season is a really exciting experience. You will enjoy the best wines while stopping at one of the nearly 60 wineries for wine tasting and festive fall events. From September 1 through October 31, you’ll find fun in every corner of the state, ranging from fall harvest festivals to Halloween happenings (people from Illinois call this time the “Fall-O-Ween”.)

Its name was given by the state's French explorers after the indigenous Illiniwek people, a consortium of Algonquin tribes that thrived in the area. The word Illiniwek means simply "the people." When you choose to take a trip to Illinois, you’re choosing the best cultural and historical RV destinations of the country. You can meet Jane, a major meat-eating dinosaur from the Cretaceous period (some 66 million years ago) founded by a 14-person team from the Burpee Museum and that it’s currently in exhibition.
