State Tourist Travel Information
Nebraska is located near the exact geographic center of the United States, in the region commonly called the Great Plains. An old slogan of the state was “Where the West Begins”.
The state is divided into seven important regions which are Lewis and Clark Region, Metro Region, Frontier Trails Region, Pioneer Region, Prairie Lakes Region, Panhandle Region and Sandhills Region.
The first one is named in honor to the explorers Lewis and Clark. Today you can retrace their famous path, from the comfort of your RV, via the Lewis & Clark Scenic Byway. Enjoy the wild natural beauty of the Missouri River, which remains nearly the same as it was more than 200 years ago.
If you prefer something more urban you can go to the Metro Region, where you’re going to find everything from shopping and five-star dining to museums, theatres, sporting events, night clubs and much more.
Another “must do” is visiting the Prairie Lakes Region, also called “Great American Desert”, where you will have the opportunity to take advantage of water sports, outdoor recreation and spectacular displays of wildlife too.
But if you like to see a paradise go to the Sandhills Region where you’re going to discover the quietest and fine beauty of a vast “sea of grass” covering more than 19,000 square miles punctuated by river canyons, waterfalls and North America’s largest hand-planted forest
