State Parks and Campgrounds---State Tourist Travel Information

Nevada is a state located in the western United States. Its nickname is “The Silver State” and the state’s motto is “All for Our Country”. The state Capital is Carlson City that is located near Reno. This state is one of the most famous states in the world due to the popular city of Las Vegas.

The state is divided in five main areas which are Reno Tahoe Territory, Cowboy Country, Pony Express Territory, Pioneer Territory and Las Vegas Territory. Some of these territories have terrific landscapes and places you would like to see. The best way to enjoy these magnificent views is by traveling on one of Nevada’s official scenic byways.

For example, you can go to the Angel Lake, also called the “Highway to Heaven” because it rises several feet. This lake is tucked into a glacial cirque high in the East Humboldt range, south of the community of Wells. Also, you can use the National Scenic Byway that goes to Lake Tahoe and appreciate this picturesque lake, offering spectacular views of its crystal-clear water, and the surrounding mountain forest of the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Nevada is also reputedly the home of Area 51, a top-secret installation the U.S. federal government has always denied existed. This Area 51 has appeared in several movies and it’s supposedly located in Groom Lake, near Nellis Air Force Base.

Nevertheless, the most exciting experience the state has is the populous city of Las Vegas, also called “The Entertainment Capital of the World” or the “Sin City”. This city was founded in the first decade of the 20th century and is a major vacation, shopping and gambling destination. Legalized gambling, availability of alcoholic beverages any time (like all Nevada), various forms and degrees of adult entertainment are a few of the characteristics of this place. The city's glamorous image has made it a popular setting for films and television programs.
