New Mexico is one of the two southwestern states of the United States. Their rich and exciting history makes this state a unique RV destination. In its long history, this land has been occupied by Native America populations, part of the Spanish colony of New Spain and a province of the Republic of Mexico. The state has the highest percentage of people of Hispanic ancestry of any state, some recent immigrants and others descendant of Spanish colonist. Also, the state has a large Indian population. For this reason, the demographics and culture of the state are distinctive for their strong Spanish, Mexican and American Indian cultural influences.

The mystique of New Mexico’s Native American tribes is extremely powerful. From its colorful dances, unique languages and distinct arts to its cultural stories and traditions this state can leave you enchanted. Check out the Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Western Heritage Center in Lovington and the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso, both in the southeast region.
