State Parks and Campgrounds---State Tourist Travel Information

Located in the northwest of the United States is the state of Oregon. It is well-known for its abundant rainfall in its western and northeastern part, but east of the Cascades the climate is much more arid. The state varies from rain forest in the Columbia Gorge to barren desert in the southeast. It has seven tourism areas which are the Coast, the Willamette Valley, Portland, Mt. Hood and Gorge, Southern, Central and Eastern Oregon. The state capital is Salem and the largest city is Portland.

If you RV to Oregon, you will have the opportunity to drink the exquisite wines of the Willamette Valley. This region is gaining worldwide attention with its internationally acclaimed Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Also, you can enjoy the spectacular view of one of the largest concentrations of high waterfalls in the nation at Columbia River Gorge.

In Portland, make sure to visit its downtown where you will find a remarkable array of attractions, including an exceptional collection of cast iron and terra cotta architecture, the biggest new and used bookstore in the world, a nationally celebrated art museum and a vibrant culinary community.

Don’t forget to go to the Crater Lake National Park, the most important park in the state. Visit Oregon and feel the Oregonian’s pride of their state's beautiful forests and streams. Know the state's innovative solution for the environmental problems, such as the Oregon Bottle Bill, the first container deposit legislation passed in the United States.
