Located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, the state of Washington should not be confused with Washington, D.C., the nation’s capital. Usually, to avoid confusion, the capital is often called simply D.C. and the state often called Washington State. Residents of this state are called “Washingtonians”. The state capital is Olympia and the largest city is Seattle.

From natural wonders like the rainforest and towering volcanoes, to manmade structures like the Space Needle and the Grand Coulee Dam, in Washington you will enjoy the most spectacular and interesting places. This state is famous for scenery of breathtaking beauty and sharp contrast. High mountains rise over evergreen forest and radiant coastal waters. Puget Sound’s many islands are served by the largest ferry fleet in the United States. Also, take pleasure of the great beauty of the deep forest in the Olympia Peninsula which is one of the rainiest places in the world.

In the southeast of Seattle and Tacoma, you will be able to see the highest mountain in the state, Mount Rainier. Also, enjoy the great view that has the Space Needle, the most recognizable landmark and the symbol of Seattle. Visit the factory where they manufacture and design the famous aircraft, the Boeings. In addition, don’t forget to see the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, one of the 13 marine sanctuaries in the US.
